COP 26

Conference of the Birds at COP26 in Glasgow allowed the Scottish and Canadian contingents to come together in person to share their work, showcase the work of all the participants around the globe and lead a conversation around adaptation as it relates to Indigenous thought leadership, disability activism and the arts ability to impact change. And – to create live and digital installations around pledges to combat climate crisis.

This video captures some of these memorable moments created by Graeme O’Hara from Bob’s Trainset:

We were thrilled to premiere and showcase work made by artists from around the world for Conference of the Birds and to engage with global artists and citizens alongside the COP26 conference and part of If not us, who? If not today, when?, this gathering of public, artists, politicians, scientists and change-makers from around the world was the final exploration towards engagement and enlightenment in our project journey.

The Conference of Birds presence included:

  • a global, public, durational art installation – the Conference of the Birds Murmuration  [with birds shipped from the Philippines, US and Trinidad]

an exhibition and meet the art events from National Access Arts Centre, the Canadian artists in Conference of the Birds

participatory workshops in creating birds for the murmuration and creating Earth Speakr content

This ecclectic programme all took place in The Pipe Factory in Glasgow. When looking for a home for this part of Conference of the Birds, where better to offer a Glasgow welcome than the people of the Barras, who embraced our art and joined us in our activism.
